  • Taking Time For Yourself

TAKING THE TIME FOR YOURSELF - COPING WITH THE CHANGING WORLD + AVOIDING BURNOUT.

I hope things are feeling settled for you, it certainly has been a time of great change & uncertainty. There has been plenty of fear on the airwaves, spilling over into our lives, not to mention way too much precipitation. If you are anything like myself, this may leave you feeling dismayed, your heart weary, your mind scrambling for truth, reason & answers. Worldly troubles are heavy and can impact our day to day commitments of family, work, domestic duties & relationships. Taking a break from the news cycle & socials is a a form of self love & self control.

At this point in time I feel it is still very important to take the time to work on ourselves, to self reflect, identify our triggers (painful memories) and work towards healing the parts of ourselves that hold us back from enjoying the joy, that is found in our day to day life. Autumn is a beautiful time to slow down into reflection, letting the old leaves drop, averting exhaustion & preventing burn out.

I Am Aromatics was born out of my personal health journey & life experiences, with the hope that in creating our healing products they would be used alongside your own healing journey. Aromatherapy is such a beautiful complementary therapy to support, nurture & heal.

If you are currently in the midst of a crisis, or just coming through one, prioritising your healing may likely sound out of reach, time consuming or not important. Living in survival mode for too long may cause harm to our adrenal, nervous, hormonal & digestive systems. Leaving you feeling like a sloppy mess, with health issues that can turn chronic and need mopping up down the track.

These points below may sound obvious, but being reminded to prioritize them during and after a crisis may bring you a little relief & help you avoid slipping into burnout. Lets not negate hitting rock bottom, as much beauty can be found, as we learn to consistently rise.

1 - Sleep, you need it !! If you can’t get enough, napping or meditating with simple deep breathing exercises may help relax your nervous & digestive system.

2- Staying well hydrated - 8 glasses a day (you know the drill)

3 - Exercise - just move your body, walk, swim, dance, stretch, find a you tube video (pilates/yoga/zumba).

4- Conversation - talk to anyone.

5 - Hugs - to release the feel good chemical of oxytocin & help you feel connected.

6- Express yourself- drawing, painting, journaling, create something.

7- Connect spiritually - figure out what you believe to be divine & sink into a feeling of hope & gratitude.

So there you have a few basic reminders. If you are need of professional support I urge you to explore this avenue, it can be deeply liberating asking for help and sharing the load.

Feel free to explore our range of Aromatherapy blends, to help support you on your journey to being your "TRUE SELF"

Much love Melissa x
